Vinna beginner guide
Choosing your first face paint kit
Start with the looks you want to try, the tools you already have, and how much choice feels helpful. The right first kit is the one you'll actually enjoy opening.
What do you want to paint first?
For a first afternoon, one or two simple designs are enough. A butterfly cheek, a rainbow or a few stars lets you practise without needing a huge range of colours. If you already know you want to blend multi-colour shapes, look for a kit that includes split cakes as well as solid colours. More colours are useful when you expect to paint many different looks.
Browse our easy looks before choosing. Pick two designs you like, then check whether the kit has the colours and tools those designs need.
Check the tools, not just the paint count
A brush helps with outlines and small details. A sponge covers a larger area with soft colour. Stencils can make a shape easier to repeat. Check each product page’s current “What’s inside” list so you know what comes in the box and what you might already own.
Choose a formula you know how to use
Vinna lists both water-based and oil-based face paints. They can need different application and removal steps. Read the formula and directions on the individual product page before buying; don’t assume every kit uses the same method. Our basic strokes guide starts with water-activated paint.
